Have I taken up residence

Within the chambers of your heart

Do you think of me?

Am I a fleeting thought

That passes as quickly as it arrives

Or am I constant presence 

Filtering in and out of your mind 

Over the course of the day

Do you miss me?

When I have been absent for too long

Or when we've just been speaking for hours

Do you hear me?

In these words spoken in silence

Or within the music that sings with my voice

Do you want me?

To find you when you are lost and still

Or do you look for me to fill the empty spaces of the night

Do you feel me?

A whisper of wind like a touch on your skin

Or within the depths of your soul 

Have I touched you without hands

Do you need me?

Have I become essential like water or air

A longing and desire for more

Do you know me?
