Existence
This solitary moment exists
Solely between you and I
But if one of us denies
Its existence
If one of us forgets
It ever happened
Does the moment
Cease to exist
If either of us
Or both of us
Condemn and
Refuse acknowledgement
Can we eliminate this single moment
From existence
And move on

You ask questions for which there may be no answers ~~ I am fascinated by this poem.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I've always been fascinated with the fact that two people can have exactly the same experience but can have two completely different interpretations of the event. One moment, two stories. Like riding a roller coaster, for one person it's exhilarating and for the other it's terrifying. But if there's only two people what happens if one denies it ever happened at all.
DeleteI think it's only eliminated when both people forget it. All moments are eliminated eventually, but that doesn't mean they were not real.
ReplyDeleteI agree. As long as there's one person to remember.
