A solitary photograph

Became a work of art

And across the northern distance

It reached out to touch my heart

It took just but a moment

To recognize your face

As one that once was lost to me

In another time and place

For within those quiet eyes

I found myself reflected

My heart knew that it knew you

So completely it was affected

Overcome by such emotion

The tears began to flow

Knowing somewhere on this Earth

Was a love I used to know

And though I could do nothing

But gaze at this photograph with care

To find perchance to lose you again

Was more heartache than I could bear
