As Well
My heart hurts
And it’s the first time
In a long time
That I have felt you
Like this
The pain of you
Deep within me
Like the crush of a fist
Around my heart
That staggers me
To the point that
I’m short of breath
Raising hand to chest
To make sure my heart
Is still beating
It stops for a moment
And starts again
Making me aware
Of how deep
This pain runs
How close the connection
And I begin to wonder
If the pain stops
Will my heart cease to beat
As well
