Locked Out

Locked Out

She sits
Outside these walls
Once again
Locked out of the palace
No room
For one more guest
At least not one like her
The one that used to be
Waited upon
But now her presence
Is a blight
To the festivities
Like the guest that
Drinks too much
And embarrasses
The host
And eventually
She is relegated outside
Very carefully
Tactfully
Until she finds herself
On the outside
Looking in
The door locked
Entry barred
And yet still
She sits and waits
Hoping that someone
Will hand her the keys
To the kingdom
So she can let herself
Back in
