Water's Edge

Water's Edge

I am standing at the waters edge
Watching the moon frolic
Among the waves
Slowly sliding onto the shore
I kick off my shoes
And step into the steady swells
I kneel and place my hands
In the cool water
Fingers drifting across stone and shell
Water lapping in gentle cascades
Across my bare feet
My skin grows numb
Yet I will not leave
I am drawn to the water
Like some strange naiad
Under the moon's distant gaze
I lay my body down
And allow the water
To flow around me
Until my teeth chatter
And my body shivers
The water is cold
But it calls me home

  1. A beautiful response to the prompt. Water carries many psychological and symbolic meanings, and I think we all feel bonded to it in same way.

  6. I love how the subject is as pulled towards the water, as much as the water is pulled to the moon. They make a magical triad.
