Sides
What a dangerous game we play
Walking the edge of the sword
Each step tentative
Delicately placed
Else sliced clean through
Severed hearts torn into
Lay me upon polished steel
And I will thumb the blade
With a flick of my tongue
I know the rules
Sides have been drawn

Lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Deleteso, it is time to take sides.
ReplyDeletetaking sides requires courage too, it tells others where one will be going.
and looking at your poem again, why not it is about a relationship?
Yes, in a way. It's about having a difference of opinion and arguing your side. But there are definite rules of engagement. Words can be weapons as sharp as swords so one must always be careful.
