The Content Eaters

The windows were left open; that is how they made their way inside the rotunda of the library.  Pulling books from the shelves, finding anything they could sink their claws into, they scavenged for enlightenment.  This murder left nothing to chance.   They hunted and pecked each page and volume.  The information was here, they just had to obtain it.   Dead authors and all the knowledge of the world; but they still couldn’t read.  Such an unkindness.  They became the content eaters.  Gleaning whatever they could from all the books they consumed.  And all we could do was watch and learn.
