The Hurt Within

I hurt

I hurt all over

My whole body aches

As if I had spent hours

In the hot sun 

But it isn’t exertion

That causes this pain

It’s an emptiness

The lethargy of long days

With nothing to do

The rain falling again

Locked inside

Muscles tense 

For no purpose 

The ache increases

I need to get out

To stop

The hurt within
