Silence 

I love these moments

Of glorious silence

With nothing

But solitude

To centre myself

It is the moment

In water

Head submerged

Breathing paused

With only the quickening beats

Of my heart

That tell me to rise

Skyward

And breathe deeply

It is the moment

Floating on the surface

To see a sky full of stars

And measure

Yourself

Against the great

Expanse of space

I am small

And alone

But I am not lonely

My life is filled with wonder

And sound

But in these small moments

Or silence

I find myself

I can hear 

My breathing

My heart beating

And my voice

As it is carried away

On the waves
