Foreign Tongue
Let me wrap my tongue
Around accented words
A foreign language
Strange in my mouth
With a familiar feeling
My lips are boundaries
To an exotic place
All I want is to taste
These delicious sounds
As they roll off my tongue
In our confusion
We find new ways to speak
Discover new forms of communication
Crossing over thresholds
Your words in my mouth

DeleteLove is so personal and indescribable that often in trying to describe it our words will be understood only by the one we love! Beautiful poem Lori.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. Sometimes a lover’s language is one known only to themselves.
