Foreign Tongue

Foreign Tongue

Let me wrap my tongue
Around accented words
A foreign language
Strange in my mouth
With a familiar feeling

My lips are boundaries
To an exotic place
All I want is to taste
These delicious sounds
As they roll off my tongue

In our confusion
We find new ways to speak
Discover new forms of communication
Crossing over thresholds
Your words in my mouth

  3. Love is so personal and indescribable that often in trying to describe it our words will be understood only by the one we love! Beautiful poem Lori.

    1. Thank you very much. Sometimes a lover’s language is one known only to themselves.

  7. "Oh, baby!" That's exactly what I said when I finished this one. Words are such sexy and sensual things, and your poetry shows them off in all their glory. It's "your words in my mouth", enlivening images I know so well.
