Mimics
Confused
The butterfly stared
At his own reflection
Trying to touch the creature
That looked so much like himself
Not seeing the man behind the mirror
Contemplating everything that he means

I love the idea of the butterfly seeing his own reflection and not the man behind the mirror. Yes I do see the resemblance in our takes Lori. I love yours! (I so enjoyed your feature at PU Monday as well!)
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I read yours I thought... yup, that's what the astronaut is contemplating! Would you mind if I reproduced yours here? I love how the two pieces seem to speak to one another, one from the butterfly's perspective and one from the astronauts. I will include a link to your blog as well. Would that be ok?
DeleteThe butterfly sees its own reflection. I love that, Lori.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I thought I would write the astronaut but I ended up with the butterfly.
DeleteThis is a shivery delight! The butterfly seeing what it can and the speaker seeing everything from a perspective about to change.
ReplyDeleteSeeing his own reflection rather than the man beyond. An excellent metaphor for tackling life ( not seeing too much to make your heart fail)
ReplyDeleteIndeed. Thank you!
DeleteThe butterfly looks into the looking glass of reality.
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit of a wonderland.
Delete...and aren't we sometimes the same … looking at our reflection and wondering who we are!
ReplyDeleteThat we are. Thank you so much.
DeleteLove the unique take on the image..a butterfly searching its own reflection in a mirror of man's mortality.
ReplyDeleteYes! That part of the image really grabbed me. The delicacy of such a fragile creature and yet it isn’t the one inside a suit.
DeleteI like this Lori - the perspective of the man bhind the mirtor.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
