Vampyre
Always wanting you
Ever needing you
Luring you astray
This I caution
To be careful
They're using you
Draining you of
Happiness
And energy
They take
And take
And take
And give nothing
In return
And you are left
Powerless
Cold and
Weary
Vampyre will consume you
Until there is nothing left
But ash

This is absolutely exquisite in its imagery and lure of the senses into the realm of desire and unknown. Vampires have existed for centuries in folklore and from what we know are creatures of the night .. irresistible and fiery as your poem. Thank you so much for writing to the prompt ❤️
ReplyDeleteThank you Sanaa. I have always found the vampire mythology quite interesting.
DeleteSounds like a lot of humans as well or perhaps they are vampires in diguise? It is so difficult to tell us apart.
ReplyDeleteI think they might be one and the same.
DeleteI love the way this draws us in - intense and dangerous perhaps
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! Thanks.
DeleteOh, those vampire people who feed on you until your bones are ash are so wicked. I have banished several of them to real estate that doesn't include me.
ReplyDeleteI have as well. Thank you Susie!
DeleteOr as Sting sung:
ReplyDeleteI must love what I destroy and destroy the thing I love
They will always leave you emptied afterwards
A hollow. Thank you.
DeleteI know a few of these emotional vampires-they never stop! A powerful image, indeed.
ReplyDeleteThey never do! Thank you!
DeleteAh those emotional vampires. Almost as bad as those werewolves of London.
ReplyDeleteLol. Now I'm singing that song! :)
DeleteI love the progression of this piece. The way you let us see the creature sucking life, sip by sip... "Until there is nothing left/But ash" and hurt.
ReplyDeleteYes, they will consume and consume until there is nothing left to burn. (Playing on the Vam "pyre" of the title). :)
DeleteThey may not always drink blood, but they'll drain you just the same.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think that's worse. A bloodsucker I could deal with but the ones that suck your energy steal the life right out of you!
DeleteA pyre of drained fools. Love it, Lori!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
