Where We Begin

I am thinking about you again

Like so many times before

But unlike then

I am kneeling before you

Head gently bowed

Not as in prayer

With palms together

But with palms open

Waiting to serve

I look into your eyes

Without a word

You kneel before me

Placing your hands

Palms open

Into mine

It is a desire shared

To be whatever the other needs

And we need to be close

As close as two people can become

And that is where we begin
