Dementia
At first you were angry
And following anger
There is always silence
Then you had questions
But you resisted asking
To protect your pride
Of course you were sorry
But couldn't remember why
So the point was lost
When sleep finally returned
It was deep and sound
Undisturbed by memory

You have composed a poem that deeply touched me and anyone who has cared for a loved one suffering with Alzheimer’s.
