Rings
My dad never wore his wedding ring
My mother put it on his hand
The day they were married
It turned his finger green
That was the first
And last day
He wore it
My mother put it on his hand
The day they were married
It turned his finger green
That was the first
And last day
He wore it
He never was one for jewelry
Except for a watch
Being left handed
Wearing it around
His right wrist
Now he wears
My grandfather’s instead
I never found it strange
His hand without a ring
My mother didn’t mind
So neither did I
More importantly
Whenever I need him
He always has the time
