The Returning
When all else fails
There is always water
It buoys my spirits
When they start to sink
I let go of worry
When there is water
To support me
As if my body
Remembers the womb
When the only requirement
Of my existence
Was to float
I return to water
Whenever I am weighed down
To feel weightless again

Thanks Gillena! :)
DeletePoem and image the perfect soothing combination.
ReplyDeleteThank you Helen! :) Words and water are the things for me.
DeleteI just let out the biggest of sighs. Your poem leaves me wanting to swim, to share my burdens and happy feels with water that can hug me from head to toe. What a wonderful place to go, when living gets extra heavy.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I could just float away. Thank you so much Magaly. Great prompt today!
DeleteOoh this is absolutely beautiful, Lori! ❤️ You make me long to dip my toes into the ocean, I so miss the outdoors nowadays!
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting awhile myself! :)
DeleteIt is always good to escape from yourself every now and then and perhaps be a fish in the sea!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I was a fish in a previous life.
DeleteI like everything about this. Water is wonderful, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThank you! It really is the best.
DeleteAhhh! (A reaction like Magaly's.) I'll be glad when our aquatic centre opens again.
ReplyDeleteI hope they're open by fall. Until then, there's the lake!
DeleteLori, I think the water is an excellent perk up and forget tool when things get mired down. I need to try it more, we have a nice pool.
ReplyDelete..
Then you're all set!
DeleteYes, water...It is a beautiful place for encouragement.
ReplyDeleteThat it is!
DeleteA gorgeous poem, Lori, that has left me longing to dive into water and feel weightless again.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim.
DeleteHow I wish I could jump into a pool right now! Great poem, Lori.
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a swimmer, but a warm bath often seems to help me when I'm feeling run down.
ReplyDeleteThat works too! :)
