To Love Someone in Words
It begins and ends with words
The meet-cute of ideas
Attracted to someone’s mind
Solitary words become whole sentences
Sentences become paragraphs
Paragraphs become life stories
Whispering dreams to one other
And those whispers know only words
Not the grace of lips
Nor the touch of someone else’s hand
There is an unexplainable intimacy
Of knowing someone’s heart
Without touching their skin
There isn’t any body
To interfere with the emotion
Aware of everything that is
And is not thought
The intoxicating effect
Of someone else’s desire
Writing their name over and over
Until it becomes another word for love
But there is always a danger
In miscommunication
The unread signs of heartache
A longing so deep it nicks the vein
Heart bleeding out words
Until all the love runs out
The meet-cute of ideas
Attracted to someone’s mind
Solitary words become whole sentences
Sentences become paragraphs
Paragraphs become life stories
Whispering dreams to one other
And those whispers know only words
Not the grace of lips
Nor the touch of someone else’s hand
There is an unexplainable intimacy
Of knowing someone’s heart
Without touching their skin
There isn’t any body
To interfere with the emotion
Aware of everything that is
And is not thought
The intoxicating effect
Of someone else’s desire
Writing their name over and over
Until it becomes another word for love
But there is always a danger
In miscommunication
The unread signs of heartache
A longing so deep it nicks the vein
Heart bleeding out words
Until all the love runs out
