I Sing

I Sing

I sing
Because music is poetry with sound
I sing
Because for the length of a song
I can tune out the world
And there is nothing
But me and the music
I sing sad songs
To lift my spirits
And feel grounded
I sing happy tunes
To get moving
When I've been still too long
It is an outlet
When I don't have the words
To express what I'm feeling
So it can be loosed into the ether
Instead of bottled up inside
I turn to it in moments of joy
I cling to it in times of sorrow
I sing
Because songs are memories
I sing
Because one day I will be gone
And when that happens
I hope my voice
Lingers on

Song: Paper Kites - On The Train Ride Home
Note:  I love how the single bass note in the background, the monotonous beat, gives the song a lulling momentum like the movement of a train.   I have layered harmony over the original recording.  If you listen, it sounds best with headphones.
