Rocking Chair
This morning
Before anyone else was awake
I sat next to your old chair
It began to rock
Back and forth in the breeze
The sunlight shifting across the seat
I felt your presence
I know you were here
I reached out
And put my hand on the arm
As the chair continued to sway
I felt you
Your hand on mine
And I smiled
Long after the chair stopped moving
Before anyone else was awake
I sat next to your old chair
It began to rock
Back and forth in the breeze
The sunlight shifting across the seat
I felt your presence
I know you were here
I reached out
And put my hand on the arm
As the chair continued to sway
I felt you
Your hand on mine
And I smiled
Long after the chair stopped moving

How sad and comforting. You hint at a beautiful, long backstory in these few lines.
