Ship to Shore

On the water

It is easy to feel lost

When you are surrounded by nothing

But blue

From the shoreline you get a sense

Of where you are

You can see trees and islands

Things look familiar

That's the view

From land to water

But it is different from water to shore

In the middle of the expanse

Looking around you see

Nothing but trees

No landmarks or signs

It is easy to get lost

everything looks the same

The curves and narrows

Black and green

You must be doubly aware

Both of where you are going

And also where you have been

One eye forward

The other eye back

So you can navigate

The return
