Wondering about Tomorrow

Wondering about Tomorrow

I sit and sip my coffee
On a cold November morning
While the day is still new
And as yet unstained
My mouth is full
But my heart is heavy
I need more light
It gets dark too soon
So time
Has stolen some back
From the night
I have this small hour
During the dawning
To reflect and remember
To recall all that was
And quietly mourn
All that could have been
I sip my morning coffee
Knowing
Nothing is different today
Than it was yesterday
But nothing is the same
And I wonder about tomorrow
How close we are
But still so very far away
