Quiet Dark
You are the quiet dark
Of a winter night
The softness of newly fallen snow
That blankets the world
In silent stillness
You are the shadow
By my side
Footsteps matching mine
Altering the path
When you chance to lead
And when you choose to follow
You are the sky
Betwixt midnight and dawn
The lost hours
Against whose darkness
My starlight shines
You are the calm
Of a peaceful sleep
The comfortable cocoon
Of a gentle embrace
And words whispered quietly
To my darkness
