Come Home Again
How is it, that a place
I have never been before
Can feel so much like home?
The excitement and anticipation
Of arriving somewhere new
And at first view
I am overwhelmed by the feeling
Of recognition
That I have been here before
I know this place
I am come home again
Unremembering why I ever left

I love this. It reads like the first kiss I shared with my Piano Man. It was returning home... after never having been.
ReplyDeleteYes! Old souls returning to each other once more! Thank you so much. Love the new Poets and Storytellers site! :)
DeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteFine capture, Lori. This happened to me, the first time I visited New Orleans. I know for certain that some previous me lived there.
ReplyDeleteSome previous me had definitely been there before. I seemed to intuitively know my way around. The feeling of coming home to a place I had never been was surreal.
DeleteLove this... I too know the joy of excitement in finding home where I've never been. Jamaica is one of those places.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a comforting feeling, to be able to just settle in like that!
DeleteGorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!! ❤️
ReplyDeleteMany thanks!
DeleteIt reminds me of the line: "No matter where you go, there you are." Maybe you never left?
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting and lovely thought. Thank you, Lori
Where once I was, there ever will I be. I hope that becomes an adage as well. :) But I do like the thought that I left a piece of myself there to remember me by.
DeleteA place that sings to your heart. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteAh yes, have experienced that too. You've said it beautifully.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful feeling. Thank you.
DeleteThat describes my first visit to London... it felt like I knew every street, every building... and that was before internet. (now every place seems familiar)
ReplyDeleteTo feel at home wherever one goes is a great feeling.
DeleteI love the feeling of home conveyed in this - it can be a comfort to return
ReplyDeleteIt definitely can!
DeleteA familiar and comforting feeling of coming home again, brilliantly conveyed.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me think of the day I started college. I was so ready for the next stage of life to begin. LOL, on that day I got re-acquainted with someone I knew from summer camps in high school. She'd later be my roommate and one of my best friends for life. I also met this shy guy who liked goofy comedies. I married him. :)
ReplyDeleteLol! Sounds like destined souls to me!
DeleteA beautiful write Lori - it sings!
ReplyDeleteAnna :o]
Thanks Anna! :)
DeleteHome, it is said, is where the heart is. Perhaps that's what's going on here.
ReplyDeleteI think that's true.
DeleteFrom where i have never left to becoming whole again , this my heart remembers even though time has taken me away ..............beautiful write Lori
