Backward Glance

Backward Glance

I would like to say
That I don't need you
That I don't need this
And it would be
Absolutely true

I could walk away
From you now
Without
A backward glance
And feel thankful
For having known you

But in the end
While I don't need you
I still want you
So I will turn around
Every time
And look for you
Even as I walk away

  1. When I read "I don't need this," I wondered if there was too much drama in the relationship, something just didn't sit right with me. I hope she walks away for good!

  2. I have walked away more than a few times, always (I believe) for the right reasons. Your poem is well done, I enjoyed it.

  4. 6Gotvto do what you ought to do. Writer should keep her eyes open and jump track if things aren't right and can't be fixed. This was a nice wright, Lori, I enjoyed reading this .

  6. Owwwwwwww... for a moment I was a barely twenty something woman again, remembering that moment. It turned out for the best, but you couldn't have told her that. In fact, honoring the feelings she felt was the only way she could start to move on.

  7. I almost missed this late post. It's beautifully written, and touches a chord within me. Unfortunately I was not able to walk away until I was grievously wounded!!
